Our continuing education

Both trainers attend many canine conferences with the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) NZ and other seminars online.

Some of the seminars include

    apdt
  • (2019) Ken Raminez guest speaker for the Aoociation Pet Dog Trainer Conference

When we learned it was "Obama's" Dog Trainer Ken Ramirez who was to guest the New Zealand Association of Pet Dog Trainers tenth anniversary conference we had no idea it was going to be so damn interesting.! Ken literally clicked with everyone there. It is not like there is nothing to learn when you have trained several thousand dogs, but, reminding us that, be it Rhino's or Parrots, Dolphins or Lemurs, base line is training for well-being.

Ken's impact on captive and natural wildlife and enabling behaviour is legendary, both for its rich foundation in method and for his sheer creativity, having saved hundreds of Elephants from poachers, tens of thousands of Sea Turtles from oil spills and mentored Zoo handlers all around the world... but, for his scientific exploration of how Dogs Count, how accurate, how fast and how many (it turns out, to fourteen, BTW)

    Four days wasn't quite enough.....

Our mentors

The strongest leash of all is that invisible leash that connects one heart to another, and it's built of love & trust. The sad reality is that the heart's invisible leash is often broken or has never been built.

Dogs who wear collars do not have to wear them forever. The need for leads and collars begins to disappear as training progresses. If the training is thorough and followed through to off leash control, the collar becomes just another intermediate step in the training process.

It is up to the handler to continue training to the point where equipment is necessary only to obey leash laws and protect the dog.

Suzanne Clothier, world reknown dog trainer / behaviouralist .
