Honey

Golden Retriever

Honey is a beautiful 3-year-old female Golden Retriever who is a loving, affectionate and very sweet girl. She enjoys being around people and other dogs and loves being part of a family. Honey is a well-mannered girl in many ways. She currently lives with another dog, and 2 children. Living with 2 dogs is very different to having one older dog that sleeps a lot :)

She **walks well on the lead** and, when meeting people, she keeps all four feet on the ground rather than jumping up. She will bark when someone comes to the door, but she settles down nicely once she knows what is happening.

 Honey is:
 * Crate trained
* Toilet trained
* Used to a raw diet
* Given a probiotic
 * Friendly and social with people
* Very good with other dogs
* Good on the lead

 Like all dogs, Honey does need consistency, structure and continued training. She has some recall, but she can be an escape artist and may run away if given even the smallest opportunity. With good management, secure boundaries and ongoing recall training, this is something that can be improved.

Cats?! While walking her on a lead during the assessment, she saw a cat on the fence and everthough she took interest in the cat, she walked calmly on. Her owners say that she would run and chase the cat, like many dogs. She takes an interest in small animals, but she has gone to boarding kennels with horses and sheep in the paddock next door, and wasn't concerned with these animals.

She needs to work on her recall. Using a long line with Honey would be ideal. THis will give you certainly that you have control while working on her recall.  Honey comes with training sessions with us, and we can help you with this.

Honey's Story

Honey is looking for a new family because of her current family's health issues. Having 2 dogs is just too much for them.

She originally came from a situation that was not ideal for her, and her current family has put a great deal of **love, time and training** into helping Honey become the happy dog she is today.

They are incredibly sad that circumstances mean they need to find her a new home. However, they believe that sometimes a dog's journey has several chapters, and Honey's next chapter should be with a family who can continue to give her the love, consistency and guidance she deserves.

Honey is a wonderful, affectionate dog with so much potential. She would thrive with a family who understands her needs, is committed to continuing her training and can provide her with a secure, consistent and loving home.

**Honey has already come a long way. Now she is looking for the next family to continue her journey with her.**
