MurphyMurphy needs a home

Murphy is almost a 2 year old Bearded Collie. His date of birth is 16/03/2009, desexed, chipped, and he's black with white speckles. His vaccinations are up to date.

Murphy needs a new home where he is the only dog.

* Agile, fit and healthy

* loves to play fetch and brings the ball back to your hands

* understands how to walk on a loose leash, but happy to pull. We use an Easy Harness which comes with Murphy.
Murphy has been introduced to carting as a young dog. A good sport to follow up on.

* understands English like sit, down, stay, stay close, heel, in your box (for his dog house), come, leave/take it and is very quick to learn- clicker training would help him develop more repertoire very fast.

* Looks at you (pays you attention)

* reliable recall at a distance

* keeps his 4 paws on the ground when he meets you

* great in a car

* respects your garden and back yard- he only uses his nose, not his paws

* likes to entertain himself by chewing on plastic cartons, and will shred a weetbix box but leaves your fallen clothing (off the line) alone .

* is an outdoor dog, and is quite content to be by himself in his box/dog house, but he likes to be by your feet when watching TV.

* toilets outside

* does not resource guard (while munching on a bone, he paid attention to me when asked, and walked away when asked)

* stays in the backyard. Respect fences, and has not jumped our 6 foot fences.

* no fear of water, but he would stay out of it if you say so. He only goes in the river

* leaves cats alone, and hasn't bothered a sheep while on our walk.

* friendly with the public and other dogs while off-leash. He will get jealous of other dogs that area close to you.

* will alert to strangers while on walks.

We have taken him for daily walks, and tested his 'city living' skills. We have filmed him in action. He has lived with 3 year old boy, so we can only assume that he has socialized with children. We brought him to Pac n Save, and he looks at shoppers walking by.

He needs to continue to have his confidence built while being on a lead. He likes to bark at people and dogs, but when you get his attention, he is quite content to walk by your side. While walking in a park off-leash, he approaches other dogs with all the right body language, and greets them correctly.

We do TTouch, and Murphy has been on one of our weekend workshops. The difference in his confidence improved immensely. He needs a new owner that will take the time to be with him, to be his buddy that loves to throw sticks, and balls. He needs someone that will care for him mentality, socially, and physically. He will make a great companion. He continues to be a great companion in our care.

If you think that you would like to take the responsibility of his care, respond with your contact details and you can come and meet him. We will work with the new owners to make sure that you are happy, and that we can feel assured that he will get the continuity of care.
